Karen Brugés y Mónica Colín — Autoras Amber Economy

She doesn't describe the future of food. She builds it.

Dr. Karen Brugés has spent over two decades at the intersection of food systems, economic innovation and global leadership.

The question began in a Master's in Rural Development, in classrooms on food systems: where is the global food system headed, and what value are we failing to measure? It deepened as an advisor to Colombia's food banks. It became international leadership — the Paris Peace Forum, the G100 Zero Hunger Mission, the Women Economic Forum.

And it became a framework: the Amber Economy — food reimagined not as a commodity, but as life-sustaining infrastructure that generates real, measurable value across five dimensions: nutrition, environment, economy, society and territory.

Along the way she built the ecosystems that make it possible — Mujeres Violeta®, Violeta Hub, MujeresVioleta.TV, Violeta Film Fest — and now MIYITAS, the Amber Economy made product.

Twenty-one years of work. One question. One answer taking shape.

Food Impact Economy — Amber Economy — Ambas ediciones

Food is not a commodity.
It's the most powerful economic lever we haven't fully used.

Food Impact Economy introduces the Amber Economy — a new framework that places food at the center of economic decision-making, measuring and preserving its true value from production to consumption.

Co-authored with PhD. Mónica Colín de Velázquez. Essential reading for anyone building a food-secure, economically resilient world.

MIYITAS

A framework only matters if it changes something. MIYITAS is the Amber Economy in practice: a hyperlocal social platform where neighbors discover, buy, sell, exchange and share food — and where every interaction is measured across the five Amber variables.

Nutrition Environment Economy Social Territory

Not a marketplace with a mission bolted on. A community, with measurement built in from day one.
